Detection Dogs

Scent detection dogs can be trained to detect low-level bed bug infestations, making them an invaluable asset for bed bug management. Bed bug detection dogs are typically used to:

  • Establish whether bed bugs are the likely cause of suspected insect bites.
  • Provide routine screening of hotels for early bed bug detection.
  • Confirm treatment success following heat or chemical treatments.
  • Screen luggage of returning travellers following suspected exposure to bed bugs.

The Bed Bug Foundation works with canine training schools across Europe to provide a certification programme for Bed Bug Scent Detection Dog Teams.
